Inquiry report of Khyber Teaching Hospital deaths released

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The inquiry report into the deaths of patients due to non-provision of oxygen in Peshawar’s Khyber Teaching Hospital has been released. The report charges six hospital employees with negligence and proposes removal of hospital director Tahir Nadeem from his post.

The Inquiry report has recommended severe punishment for supply chain manager Ali Waqas. It says that the hospital ran low on oxygen supply on the night between December 5 and 6. The hospital director, who was posted in July, did not take any interest in addressing the matter. The agreement between the oxygen supply company and the hospital expired in June 2020 and was never renewed.

Special Assistant for Information Kamran Bangash said in a statement that the report of the Khyber Teaching Hospital incident has been made public and as promised, the perpetrators of the tragedy have been identified.

In his statement, he warned government officials that there would be no compromise on public affairs. He said that action was taken against those identified by the inquiry report, which charge sheets the perpetrators of this gross negligence.
