New species of centipede rules over poisonous cave in Romania

(Web Desk) – A poisonous centipede has been found in a pitch-black cave that hasn’t seen daylight in more than 5.5 million years. The centipede was discovered by an international team of scientists in the Romanian cave Movile: a unique underground ecosystem which feeds chemosynthetic bacteria. The researchers told that the cave contains spiders, scorpions and other arthropods, along with snails, earthworms and leeches. They said that they found a 46 to 52 mm long centipede and named it as Cryptops speleorex, which can be translated as the  king of the cave’.
