Opposition members of Balochistan Assembly hand over resignations to leadership
QUETTA (Dunya News) - After PDM’s call to submit resignations from assemblies to party leadership by December 31, a sizable number of members have presented their resignations. Now, assembly members of Balochistan Assembly have also started handing over resignations to the parliamentary leadership.
According to details, members of BNP Mengal, JUI and PKMAP in the Balochistan Assembly have submitted their resignations to their parliamentary leaders. Opposition members have said that they will take every democratic step necessary in the interest of the people.
On the other hand, independent MPA Nawab Aslam Raisani has also announced his resignation.
Opposition parties have 23 seats in the Balochistan Assembly. Of these, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and BNP Mengal have 10 each, PML-N and PKMAP have one each and there is one independent. Law experts say that if the number of resignations is high, it could lead to general elections being held for the assembly.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has said that the parliamentarians should complete their tenure instead of resigning. However, the position of Nawab Sanaullah Zehri on whether to resign or not has not been announced yet.
