ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Advisor to the Prime Minister Imran Khan on Finance and Revenue Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Advisor to the PM on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and Special Assistant to PM on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan are likely to be appointed as Federal Ministers for a period of six months, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan has consulted with the legal team to review the constitutional crisis that has arisen after the Islamabad High Court ruling that non-elected advisors, special assistants to PM cannot be part of or chair cabinet committees.

Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Abdul Razak Dawood and Dr Faisal Sultan could be appointed as Federal Ministers until the Senate elections. The PTI government is likely to award senate tickets to them for the Senate elections in 2021 so they could continue holding their positions after becoming Senators.

Sources said that the Prime Minister can appoint an unelected individual as minister for six months under Article 91 of the Constitution. Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had appointed Dr Miftah Ismail as the federal finance minister who was also not a parliamentarian.
