Former GB governor's son Prince Saleem arrested on fraud charges
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Prince Saleem, son of former Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Mir Ghazanfar, on charges of fraud. Islamabad accountability court remanded the accused for four days into NAB custody.
Prince Saleem was arrested by the NAB in a case of fraud of Rs50 million with the National Bank. Prince Saleem will be transferred to Gilgit Regional Bureau of NAB Rawalpindi.
Prince Saleem is accused of corruption as vice chairman of a private company called Silk Route. Prince Saleem took a loan of Rs50 million from the National Bank Sost branch on fake documents. Despite repeated summons to Prince Saleem, he did not appear before the NAB.
The NAB team presented Prince Saleem in the accountability court and requested for a seven-day transit remand of the accused. However, the court remanded him in custody for four days and directed him to be produced in the relevant court.
Osama Khalid, counsel for the accused, appeared before the court and said that his client had been arrested by the NAB in a ten-year-old case. Honorable person is being disrespected without any reason.
