Development work will not begin until islands issue is resolved, AGP assures SHC

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan appeared in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday in a case against handing over management of Sindh’s islands to the federal government and assured the court that development work will not begin until the dispute is settled.
The attorney general said there is no doubt that the islands belong to the people of Sindh and guaranteed that fishermen will not suffer any losses and mangroves will not be damaged.
Khalid Jawed Khan said ordinance is not a final verdict and it can be amended. The federal government will start development work after consulting the province as Sindh’s interests are dear to it, he added.
The SHC adjourned the hearing till November 13.
