CPPA proposes increasing power tariff by Rs 0.36 per unit
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The price of electricity is likely to go up in the near future as Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to NEPRA to increase the power tariff by Rs 0.36 per unit.
The CPPA has requested the tariff increase over September fuel price adjustment. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will arrive at a decision after holding a hearing on October 29.
CPPA has said that in the month of September, 37.18% of electricity was produced from hydel, 17.42% from coal, 5.82% from furnace oil, 10.10% from domestic natural gas and 21.40% from imported LNG. The remaining 1.34% of electricity was generated from wind and 5.17% from nuclear sources.
