No role of PM behind cases against PML-N leadership: Shahzad Akbar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Accountability Adviser to PM Imran Khan, Barrister Shahzad Akbar, has termed former Director FIA Bashir Memon’s allegations against the Prime Minister as baseless.

Barrister Shahzad Akbar said that Bashir Memon was appointed by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the head of FIA while Nawaz Sharif had appointed him as IG Azad Kashmir, that is why he stayed in contact with PML-N and tried to benefit them.

He said that the allegation against Prime Minister Imran Khan of wanting cases filed against PML-N was baseless. It was the federal cabinet that directed an investigation against Khawaja Asif, who was offering consultancy abroad while being present in Pakistan. His act could have benefitted the country’s enemies, he added.

The Interior Adviser said that it was very important to bring back Nawaz Sharif, he will be treated as a criminal and negotiations with the UK for his extradition are underway. He said that fleeing to the UK by deceiving the system is similar to breaking out of prison.
