Punjab govt decides to introduce street and night tourism in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday decided to take immediate practical steps to revive the traditional, cultural and tourism activities of Lahore.

Addressing the meeting, he said that it has been decided to introduce street and night tourism in Lahore for the interest of tourists, adding that citizens will enjoy European-style dining on sidewalk or roadside chairs.

He further said that buffer zones will be set up to protect historic buildings and archeological sites, while in-principle approval has also been given for construction of overhead bridge from railway station Lahore to Badshahi Masjid. In addition, open-air food stalls and chairs will be set up on the Mall Road.

Bazdar went on to say that food items would be sold on specially designed carts and certificates will be affixed on food carts to maintain food quality.

He said that Maryam Zamani Mosque would be restored to its historic condition by renovation and the historic shape will be restored by relocating the rum market.
