FM Qureshi demands UN take notice of Amnesty Intl office closure in India

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has demanded the UN Human Rights Council to take notice of the closure of Amnesty International’s office in India.

He said that Amnesty International was forced to close its office in India at a time when it had started exposing serious human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as well as the involvement of police in anti-Muslim riots in Delhi.

The Foreign Minister said that the real face of India has been exposed to the world and human rights organizations should speak out against Indian tactics.

The Foreign Minister also expressed concern over the treatment of minorities in India, especially Muslims.
