Shehbaz Sharif has decided to fight his own case

LAHORE (Dunya News) - An accountability court in Lahore on Tuesday granted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) 14-day physical remand of President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif, a day after his arrest.

Accountability court judge Jawad-ul-Hassan announced the decision and ordered that Opposition Leader be presented before the court again on October 13.

During the hearing, Shehbaz Sharif, while defending himself in the court, argued that justice is not being done due to NAB-Niazi nexus. My government did not reduced price of sugarcane in the Punjab nor any of our policies caused losses to farmers, he added.

Earlier, Opposition Leader was brought to the court by a team of the accountability bureau.

On the other hand, court has granted relief to daughter of Shehbaz Sharif and accepted her plea of exemption from appearance during court hearing. Representatives of Javeria Ali will appear before the court to mark her attendance.

Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest validates APC resolution: Nawaz Sharif

Former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the puppet government’s arrest of Shehbaz Sharif confirms and validates the resolution presented by All parties conference (APC) earlier this month.

In a tweet on Monday, the PML-N leader said that Shehbaz Sharif had already told that all decisions taken at the All Parties Conference would be implemented, whether he goes to jail or not.

Nawaz Sharif wrote that there should be no doubt that we will not be deterred by such tactics.

Earlier, Nawaz had called an important online party meeting after the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif by NAB.

According to sources, after the arrest, Nawaz Sharif had been in contact with several party leaders and in view of the situation, called the online meeting.

Dunya News sources said that Maryam Nawaz is likely to be given the charge of the protest that PML-N plans to launch after the meeting. Other party affairs will be handled by prominent leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal.

Shehbaz preferred prison over standing against his brother: Maryam

Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz has strongly condemned arrest of Shehbaz Sharif.

Maryam Nawaz in a tweet said that PML-N President has been arrested only because he refused to play in the hands of those who wanted to use him against his brother.

She paid tribute to Opposition Leader and said Shehbaz Sharif preferred standing behind prison bars than to stand against his brother.

Meanwhile, reacting to the arrest, Marriyum Aurangzeb, spokesperson of PML-N, said that even today, corruption of even a single penny was not proved and arrests of opposition leaders is proof of PM Imran Khan’s ill intentions.

She said “Government has decided to rig upcoming local bodies election and for this reason PML-N President has been arrested by NAB-Niazi nexus. I want to say it clearly that NAB has arrested Shehbaz Sharif on directions of Imran Khan”.

Bilawal demands immediate release of Shehbaz Sharif

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the arrest of President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif and demanded his immediate release.

Bilawal Bhutto said that sending notices to opposition politicians and arresting them is proof of Imran Khan’s bewilderment by Pakistan Democratic Movement. Prime Minister Imran Khan is using NAB for political revenge, he added.

Bilawal Bhutto said Imran Khan’s sister and special aides have serious allegations against them but NAB does not summon them. He added that targeting politicians cannot stop the path of public resistance nor the journey of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
