Motorway rape case: Senators angered over Punjab Police's failure to arrest Abid Ali

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Senate Committee on Human Rights visited the Lahore Motorway rape crime scene on Saturday. Senate Committee Convener Senator Quratulain Marri and Senator Keshoo Bai visited the site.

Police briefed Senate committee members on the progress of the investigation so far. The Senators expressed anger over the police’s failure to arrest prime suspect Abid Malhi.

The Senators said that Police have failed to capture just one criminal, he has been constantly fleeing the law’s grasp and all the police could do was watch.

The Senate committee members pressed that the culprits involved in the heinous incident should be brought to justice. They said that steps should be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and the government should take concrete steps for the protection of women.
