KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Gilgit-Baltistan election will be a test case for election reforms, he pledged to lead the election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Addressing a press conference with Sindh Chief Minister in Karachi, he said that Amjad Hussain Advocate from LA-1, Jamil Ahmed from Gilgit-2, Aftab Haider from GBLA-3 and Zahoor Ahmed from GBLA-6 will be the candidates in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chairman PPP said that the words of in-camera meetings should not be taken out. The Army Chief also wants the Gilgit-Baltistan elections to be transparent. The PPP will contest the elections under the 2017 Manifesto. We will not change a single point. The rest of the parties may be changing their position, but ours is not, he added.
Bilawal Bhutto said that Gilgit-Baltistan should decide its own future. That is what was said in this briefing and is being said even today. Immediate transparent elections should be held in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Answering a question, he said he could not debate about the meeting in the name of national security. When I speak off the record, there is confidence that no one will speak about it. He said that I am compelled today because some irresponsible people are talking about it.
The incumbent Prime Minister does not have the qualifications to lead the opposition on national security, said Bilawal.
He said that everyone agrees that there should not have been a national security briefing without the Prime Minister. He said that he would always co-operate on important issues including Kashmir and national security.
Bilawal Bhutto said that the current government has created such an environment that even national security briefings will not remain secret. If the Prime Minister cannot do his job at the National Security Briefing, give someone else a chance.
He slammed the Railway Minister and said that Sheikh Rashid was making irresponsible statements which he condemned. He is trying to make the matter controversial.
