Motorway rape incident: Standing Committee on Religious Affairs demands public hanging of culprits

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Religious Affairs has demanded public hanging of culprits involved in motorway rape incident and termination of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh’s over irresponsible statement.
Asad Mehmood chaired the session in which the incident was strongly condemned and was termed as a stain on the society.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mohsin Shahnawaz said the text of oaths administered for various posts in Pakistan is different. It is better that all oaths are administered under common phrases. The proposal was supported by the government.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri remarked that the text of oaths of the federal as well as the provincial governments should be same and a draft with common text will be forwarded to the Council of Islamic Ideology.
Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said the words of “Khatam-un-Nabiyeen” should be added along with the common text where condition of being a Muslim is written in the oath.
