PM launches Roshan Digital Account for overseas Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the expatriate community to invest in newly planned mega construction projects including Ravi Front Urban Development Project and Bundal Island Project.

Addressing the launching ceremony of Roshan Digital Account in Islamabad on Thursday, the Prime Minister termed the overseas Pakistanis as the biggest untapped asset emphasized the need to create suitable conditions for them so they can work for the development of the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said the only solution to our main challenges like debt, current account deficit and trade gap, is the wealth creation through economic activities. He said construction industry can play a vital role in giving boost to economic activities as over 30 local industries are directly attached with it.

The Prime Minister said gap in our imports and exports is shrinking amid COVID-19, after government announced incentives.

Roshan Digital Account is a major initiative for overseas Pakistanis by the State Bank of Pakistan together with commercial banks operating in Pakistan.

For the first time in country’s history, they will be able to remotely open an account through an entirely digital and online process without any need to visit a bank branch, embassy or consulate.
