IG Punjab's transfer is being blown out of proportion: Dr Shahbaz Gill
FAISALABAD (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill has said that the issue of changing IG Punjab is being blown out of proportion, the government has full authority to appoint the officers it deems fit.
Talking to media in Faisalabad, he said that previous governments had looted the country and made a mockery of the system of accountability. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) introduced the system of police brutality in Punjab, he added.
Shahbaz Gill further said that Rana Sanaullah is the iron man of PML-N, who got his opponents killed in fake encounters with the police. Now, the policing system is being improved and corrupt officers should correct themselves.
Talking about the textile industry, he said that the previous governments had completely destroyed cotton production by setting up sugar mills in cotton-growing areas. This left the farmers and cultivators miserable as no measures were taken to end their exploitation.
The Special Assistant said that expensive power generation projects were set up which increased the prices of electricity. He said the value added sector is very important for the government and a better environment and services are being provided to businessmen, investors and industrialists to not only increase investment but also create employment opportunities.
