Netflix reportedly turned down TikTok acquisition offer
(Web Desk) - TikTok reportedly reached out to Netflix regarding a possible acquisition deal. However, it seems like the popular entertainment streaming platform declined, showing no interest in purchasing the short video sharing service app.
With TikTok facing pressure from the Trump administration, the popular social media platform has to either sell itself or face a ban. Furthermore, ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, is in talks with Microsoft and Oracle regarding a possible acquisition for US operations. Meanwhile, TikTok has also sued the Trump administration to prevent the banning of the app before its deadline.
The lawsuit aims at achieving a stay order to allow the company to continue operations as it continues to negotiate with prospective buyers while also reaching out to others like Netflix. However, the streaming service is said to have declined according to a Screen Rant report. At the moment, the social media app is valued somewhere between 10 to 50 billion US Dollars, although, this may fluctuate considering it is under political pressure and is forced into a vulnerable position.
