ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has on Saturday ordered implementation on the law pertaining to elimination of the environmental pollution, Dunya News reported.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted hearing on the case and summoned report from the federal government as well as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman within three weeks.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Amin Aslam and Capital Development Authority Chairman Amir Ali appeared before the court.
While addressing Amin Aslam, Justice Athar Minallah said the court has many expectations from you and it supports your initiatives, but the entire National Park has been destroyed.
“Irreparable damage has been caused to the atmosphere. It is not your fault; it has been ongoing for seventy years. Jurisdiction of regulator is not more than 1,400 square miles after the 18th amendment.
“There seems no writ of the law in 1,400 square miles in every case which is interrogated. What can be done to make the law pertaining to elimination of the environmental pollution effective?”
