FATF Bills essential for national security: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has termed the bills of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as necessary for national security and said that the government has to be helped in the national interest.
Speaking on Dunya News program "On the Front", the former Prime Minister said that, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance brought by the government was an NRO for their own people. We said that NAB law is already a black law and we don’t want to make it more. We talked about every provision of the NAB rules, he added.
Answering a question, he said that Shehbaz Sharif is now healthy and is leading the party. Maryam Nawaz has a role of her own, she will remain in politics. Maryam Nawaz is not part of parliament and she herself had said that she would come forward whenever needed.
Criticizing the PTI’s government, he said that Imran Khan s mandate was fake, he had failed. The people are telling us to remove the government as soon as possible but we will not be part of any undemocratic process. We will not support any unconstitutional move, this is our position.
On Kashmir issue, he said that we do not want to make it controversial, we will not make any controversial statement on it. If the state decides, we will support it. However, he alleged that this was the first government to make the Kashmir issue controversial.
Answering another question, he said that the Prime Minister should tell what is NRO? Even ordinary politicians do not say such things as the Prime Minister had said, and if Prime Minister will say such things, then the state of mind should be looked into.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the opposition highlights public issues in the parliament but this is the first government which does not allow the parliament to function. We have to come out and hold a press conference instead of the parliament.
