SC takes suo motu notice of NAB chairman's authority of appointments

SC released written verdict of case pertaining to fake NAB officer's bail.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has on Friday taken suo motu notice of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman’s authority of appointments and issued notice to the attorney general to assist the court.
The apex court released written verdict of the case pertaining to fake NAB officer’s bail. The Supreme Court approved the bail of suspect Nadeem Ahmad who had disguised himself as NAB DG Irfan Mangi.
The SC directed the Registrar Office to fix separate hearing for the suo motu case and stated that the NAB chairman can use the appointment authority only as per the rules.
According to the NAB ordinance, no rules have been made since 1999, the top court said in the issued verdict. Can the NAB chairman ignore Articles 240 and 242 of the constitution, the court inquired.
