FM Qureshi, Saudi FM discuss mutual interests, coronavirus situation

Qureshi said coronavirus cases in Pakistan has decreased due to the smart lockdown strategy
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday telephoned Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
During the telephonic conversation, matters pertaining to mutual interests and coronavirus situation came under discussion.
The foreign minister on his and his Prime Minister Imran Khan behalf inquired about the health of King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia.
Qureshi said that coronavirus cases in Pakistan has significantly decreased in the wake of the smart lockdown strategy adopted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
The foreign minister apprised his Saudi counterpart of the effective measures taken by Pakistan to prevent the spread of the Corona epidemic, including Smart Lockdown policy. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan s smart lockdown strategy has not only reduced the spread of pandemic, but also significantly declined the death rate in the country.
The Saudi Foreign Minister said that the Corona situation in Saudi Arabia is also improving.
He also strongly condemned Houthi militia missile attacks on Saudi defense installations, adding that Pakistan will continue to extend all possible cooperation to safeguard the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
The two foreign ministers also discussed the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
They agreed to continue its mutual consultation on important regional and bilateral issues including global pandemic.
