Sherry Rehman criticizes govt's 'insensitivity' over rising medicine prices

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Sherry Rehman has claimed that the federal government has increased the prices of medicines by 15% in 2019 and 10% this year.

Addressing the Senate session, she said that the government has ruined the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), just to reward its friends and relatives.

Sherry Rehman said that unlike previous governments who maintained the prices of medicines for 13 years, the present government has increased their prices for which it will have to face legal challenges.

Criticizing government policies, she said no other country has taken such a step keeping the coronavirus situation in view. “Where will the poor get their medicine and treatment from”, she asked.

The PPP leader said that instead of giving relief, the government has put people’s lives in danger proving their insensitivity.
