Brave decision of Turkish President to restore Hagia Sophia as Mosque: Pervaiz Elahi
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that it was a bold decision of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to restore as mosque the great monument of the fifteenth century Hagia Sophia.
In his statement, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the decision of Recep Tayyip Erdogan was reminiscent of the Ottoman Caliphate.
He said thatTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s decision to restore Museum Hagia Sophia as mosque is a pleasant and historic step.
He said that the Hagia Sophia Mosque is a cultural heritage site for Muslims around the world.
Established in 1453 during the reign of Sultan Muhammad the Conqueror II, the mosque was turned into a museum in 1935.
This decision has caused a wave of happiness not only among the Turkish people but also among the entire Muslim Ummah, he added.
