UET decides against cutting staff salaries to counter financial slump

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore’s University of Engineering and Technology (UET) is under severe financial stress, causing it to consider cutting its staff’s salaries by 10 to 50%. However, Governor Punjab has taken notice of the development and decided not to deduct the staff salaries.

According to details, an important meeting was held in Governor House on this issue under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. It was also decided during the meeting that arrears of the university to be paid by the Punjab government would be cleared soon.

The Governor Punjab has also set up a committee comprising of Vice Chancellor UET, Secretary Finance, Secretary Higher Education and Chairman HEC who will head the committee.

Addressing the meeting, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that despite the difficult economic situation, the issues of universities would be resolved and the government will use all its resources to support the universities.
