Punjab Govt devises SOPs for collective sacrifice on Eid-ul-Adha

LAHORE (Dunya News) – On Eid-ul-Adha Collective sacrifices will be made in the province of Punjab under Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and no sacrificial animals sale point will be set up in the urban areas.

According to details, an important meeting of the sub-cabinet committee of the Punjab government was held. Major decisions regarding setting up of cattle markets in Punjab were approved while some institutions, including madrassas, would be allowed collective sacrifice, which would be allowed by the concerned deputy commissioner.

It was decided in the meeting that collective sacrifice would be allowed under SOPs, no cattle market would be set up anywhere in the city limits, the commissioner of every division would identify the places for setting up cattle market outside the city limits.

It was decided in the meeting of the sub-cabinet committee that some commissioners would identify the places and present the report in the meeting. In cattle markets social distancing would be compulsory along with the use of mask, gloves.

The decision said that if a person buys an animal from outside the city limits and brings the animal into the city limits then the district administration will disinfect the vehicle.

It was also decided in the meeting that district administration also spray in the cattle markets and no child or old citizen and families will not be allowed to enter in the cattle market.

No one will enter the market without mask and gloves. Further steps will be taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus from the cattle markets. Coronavirus checking will be tightened on entry and exit routes of the markets.

The decision said that the government will not spare any efforts in the sanitation of animals and markets and the police will check the purchase receipt of each animal at the entrance of the city.

The Punjab government has presented its recommendations to the federal government. The federal government has convened an important meeting on Monday regarding cattle markets, security measures related to Eid-ul-Adha and implementation of SOPs. The Punjab government will put forward its recommendations in the meeting and after approval, the Punjab government will issue a formal notification in this regard.
