Punjab Govt decides not to open educational institutes in Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) - A high-level meeting of the civil and military leadership of Punjab has decided not to open educational institutions in view of the current situation of the Coronavirus and has decided to formulate an effective management policy to curb the spread of coronavirus in Lahore.

According to details, a special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar. Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan, General Officer Commanding Major General Muhammad Aniq-ur-Rehman Malik attended the meeting.

During the meeting Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Usman Buzdar said that with the cooperation and support of the people government will overcome every challenge.

Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan said that Coronavirus has become a national challenge and assured full military support to the civil government in this regard.

The meeting has reviewed the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus epidemic in the province and has decided not to open educational institutions.

The meeting has expressed concern over the increased number of coronavirus patients in Punjab, especially in Lahore. An effective management policy will be formulated to curb the spread of Corona in Lahore city.

In this regard, it has been agreed to form a special working group consisting of experts. In the light of the recommendations of the special working group, a separate model will be prepared for Lahore city. The recommendations of the working group will be presented to the National Command and Control (NCC) Center for the final approval.

It has been also decided that the political and military leadership of the province would use all its resources to stop the spread of Coronavirus and strict implementation on the SOPs would be ensured and violation of SOPs in markets and shopping centers would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

DG Rangers Punjab Major General Muhammad Aamir Majeed, Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastgir, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Commissioner Lahore Division, experts and senior military and civil officials also attended the meeting.
