Shawwal Moon sighted, Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated across Pakistan on Sunday

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held its meeting in Karachi today

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Shawwal moon has been sighted, announced the Ruet-i-Hilal committee on Saturday. Therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Sunday.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman, met today in Karachi to decide about the sighting of crescent moon of Shawwal 1441 Hijri. The committee received multiple reports of moon sightings from some parts of the country.

The committee held a press conference after the meeting, announcing the development. Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman said that multiple credible reports were received by the committee after which it was decided that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated across the country on Sunday.

Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee said that Hafiz Muhammad Younis from Chaman said that 15 people in Etikaf reported seeing the moon. Moreover, a large group of people from Pishin also witnessed seeing the crescent moon. The committee also received unconfirmed moon sighting reports from various other places, he added.

He further said that in view of coronavirus, hugging should be avoided when greeting others and “Eid Mubarak” should be said only to the extent of voice.
