Pakistan trying to defeat coronavirus despite economic crisis: Shibli Faraz
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator and Information Minister Shibli Faraz on Thursday said that the incumbent government has indiscriminately supported all the provinces to contain coronavirus.
While speaking in Senate, the senator said that number of coronavirus cases and deaths in Pakistan is very low as compared to other countries. We developed policy to fight this pandemic while keeping in view the economic challenges, he added.
Shibli Faraz said that the federation doesn’t want to politicise the coronavirus crisis. I request opposition parties to give useful suggestions instead of leveling allegations against the government, he went on to say.
The information minister said that the government had provided every province with protective gear and money.
Responding to points raised by various lawmakers, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a stimulus package worth 1.2 trillion rupees to support small businesses and daily-wage earners, whose employments were affected due to lockdown as a result of Coronavirus outbreak.
Over one hundred billion rupees have so far been disbursed among deserving families under Ehsaas Emergency Cash program in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
The senator said resources worth 31 billion rupees were diverted to Sindh.
He also appealed common people to strictly abide by the SOP’s evolved to prevent spread of the Coronavirus.
Shibli Faraz also paid rich tribute to doctors, nurses, paramedics, members of the law enforcement agencies, and welfare organizations for their efforts as frontline soldiers in fight against the pandemic. He said their sacrifices will always be remembered in the history of Pakistan.
