Little League baseball takes to the field in the U.S. with social distancing

(Reuters) - Little League baseball returned to action in the U.S. Saturday as kids took part in a Mother’s Day tournament in Missouri while social distancing.

The youth baseball event usually takes place in nearby St. Louis, but with the city still on mandatory lockdown, tournament organizer Jason Worstenholm was forced to move the event to the town of Cottleville in a neighboring county.

Worstenholm told local reporters that while many parents and kids were excited to get back to baseball, about half the parents said they didn’t feel it was safe to play yet.

Even those that were ready to take part in the Mother’s Day Classic accepted some new rules that allowed only three kids in the dugout at once and that players stay six feet apart.
