PCB should hold dialogues with fellow cricket boards to reopen cricket industry: Rameez Raja

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja said cricket boards around the world cannot survive for long if matches keep getting cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic and the cricket industry needs to reopen now. Rameez Raja, while speaking on his YouTube channel, said, “The coronavirus pandemic has brought life to a standstill. Pakistan is trying to resume its economic activities as no country can survive in a perpetual lockdown situation.” “Cricket industry also needs to reopen now and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should hold dialogues with fellow cricket boards as an activity has to be generated behind closed doors. “Fans are starved and it will be a wonderful option if they get to watch cricket on television in these circumstances. The impact of the pandemic is less in the South Asian countries as compared to the Western world. “The PCB can take the first step in initiating this conversation with these countries. Any cricket board, no matter how rich, cannot keep paying salaries in a continuous lockdown situation. “We need dialogue and planning to start cricket again. Australia and India are already holding talks regarding the series scheduled at the end of the year. “If fans cannot attend, still the exercise of holding matches behind closed doors is completely possible.”
