PM Imran Khan tests negative for Covid-19

PM Imran Khan had been advised to undergo coronavirus Test after he met Faisal Edhi
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested negative for the Coronavirus, premier’s focal person for the Covid-19 crisis, Dr Faisal Sultan said on Wednesday, days after the premier came in contact with Faisal Edhi, the son of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, who had tested positive for Covid-19.
Earlier in the day, there was some confusion that PM Khan underwent a test for Covid-19 on Tuesday, whereas the premier’s focal person for the Covid-19 crisis, Faisal Sultan, clarified that his sample had been collected for testing on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, PM Imran Khan had been advised to undergo coronavirus Test after he met Social worker and head of Edhi Foundation Faisal Edhi last week, who has been tested positive for coronavirus.
Faisal Edhi, the son of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi and chairman of the Edhi Foundation, met Khan last week where he presented him a cheque of Rs10 million for Corona Relief Fund.
In his tweet, Special Assistant to PM on Health Zafar Mirza said that PM was tested today for SARS-CoV-2 ‘the virus strain that causes coronavirus disease . “The test used was a polymerase chain reaction (PCR). I am happy to report that his test is NEGATIVE," he said.
On Tuesday, Faisal announced that he contracted coronavirus. He had insisted on being tested since he had been on the ground working with patients.
Following his test result, the authorities decided to test his family as well as employees of the Edhi Foundation.
