Consultative meeting underway to adopt a strategy for prayers in Ramadan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A consultative meeting of Ulema chaired by President Arif Alvi is underway in Islamabad to adopt strategy for prayer congregations and Namaz-e-Taraweeh during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to details, Religious scholars from all the provinces are participating in the meeting through video link to formulate a strategy for effective steps to control the epidemic of COVID-19 during Ramadan.

During his address, President Arif Alvi expressed the confidence that the precautionary measures will be taken in mosques during the holy month of Ramazan to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The President said the entire nation is looking towards the government and the religious scholars to come up with a consensus policy on the matter. He said we have to give a message of unity to the nation to deal with the current situation.

Arif Alvi said he has held consultations with different political leaders over the last few days and seeks proposals from the provincial governments as well for incorporation in the guidelines to be observed during Ramazan in mosques.

He stressed that the message of discipline to cope with coronavirus must emanate from mosques. He said we have to follow discipline as per the life and teachings of holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri for devising a safety plan against coronavirus during the month of Ramazan after holding consultations with Ulema.

However, Pakistan’s leading Ulema have announced that lockdown will no longer apply on mosques and congregational prayers will be offered.

Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, while addressing a press conference along with Mufti Taqi Usmani, Allama Rashid Soomro, Maulana Anas Noorani and other Ulema of various schools of thought said lockdown will no longer apply to mosques because PM Imran Khan has advised to consider ground realities while following lockdown.
