Will not allow closure of mosques: Noor-ul-Haq Qadri
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri has said that duration of congregational and Friday prayers will be shortened and assured people that government is not closing down mosques.
Addressing a press conference with other government officials, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that Muslim ummah has taken precautionary measures against coronavirus as Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and other countries have stopped large religious gatherings and Sheikh Al Azhar has also issued a fatwa in this regard.
He added that Al Aqsa mosque and Makkah have also been closed for three days and several shrines in Karbala are also closed.
The minister informed that an hours long meeting was held with ulema of all schools of thoughts and they assured to fully comply with government’s decisions.
Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that mosques will not be closed as mosque’s staff and a limited number of healthy people will offer prayers in the mosques while others will pray at their homes.
