The government will do all it can to ensure that this will be Pakistan’s last IMF package
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that economic and industrial activities in the country have been revived and the government will do all it can to ensure that this will be Pakistan’s last IMF package.
The former Finance minister said that in the past few weeks, inflation has dropped by 5% and it is set to dip even further. Various industries have restarted production with industrial output increasing from 9% to 35%.
He further stated that exports of the country had jumped by a record 13.8% in February whereas both India and Bangladesh experienced a decline in exported goods during the same period.
In three months time, overseas Pakistanis have remitted an additional $700 million and Rs185 billion were spent on development projects, he added.
