PM Imran approves establishment of SEZ across country

The meeting decided to resolve all issues regarding Special Economic Zones
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday approved establishment of new Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in various parts of the country.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting in Islamabad on the establishment of new Special Economic Zones in various parts of the country.
The meeting was attended by Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Energy Umer Ayub, Minister for Planning Asad Umar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance & Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce, Industry and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister Nadeem Afzal Chan, Board of Investment Chairman Zubair Gillani, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the prime minister reiterated the government s resolve to provide all out facilities and an enabling environment to business community. He said that the purpose of establishing special economic zones is to provide all possible facilities to investors and the business community and grant them concessions.
The meeting decided to resolve all issues regarding Special Economic Zones at the level of provincial governments, adding that the incumbent government is committed to providing the business community with all possible comforts and a favorable environment.
Planning Minister Asad Umar informed the meeting that work on compiling Economic Growth Strategy regarding Gilgit Baltistan is in process, which also includes the development of industrial sector.
Imran Khan emphasized to utilize the tourism potential of Gilgit Baltistan and to establish special zones with respect to tourism.
PM Imran ordered that the system should be simplified and simplified with respect to captive power and welfare and the approval period for this process should be determined.
He led the creation of a working group composed of the Minister of Planning, the Minister of Energy, Commercial Advisory and other interested parties to facilitate the relevant rules and regulations to establish and facilitate industries in the Special Economic Zones.
