Bridge communication gap with senior players: Muhammad Hafeez asks PCB

He said it would be easier for players if a communication policy is framed on matters of selection.

LAHORE (APP) – Pakistan veteran all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez has said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must bridge communication gap with senior players so that the players could decide their future.

In his media interaction at the Gaddafi stadium on Sunday, he endorsed the idea that the senior players should be informed properly whether they part of team management’s future plans or not, adding that he had spoken to the PCB top management to get clarity on his status but he did not get any response and remained in the limbo for months.

“It would be easier for the players if a communication policy is framed on matters of selection or non-selection of senior players,” he observed.

To a query, he said he always stayed positive in highs and lows of his career and did not allow despondency overcome him, and this approach had helped his career, adding that his pragmatic mind-set had enabled him to make a comeback in the team.

Muhammad Hafeez, to a query, said he was delighted to make a comeback to the Pakistani team, adding that he was doubly happy that he had played a match-winning knock to help Pakistan clinch the T20 series against Bangladesh.

When asked he performed poorly on the foreign soil, the veteran all-rounder disagreed with the observation that he performed poorly on away series, adding that he had scored most of his runs abroad as he did not play any cricket in Pakistan for the last one decade.

Muhammad Hafeez was optimistic that he would clear his bowling test to be held later this month, adding that he had accepted the bowling ban by the ECB despite reservations as he believed in.

Muhamamd Hafeez said he kept himself match-fit, waited patiently for his re-call and did not let his thought-process go wild, adding that he was glad his persistence had bore fruit.

On the pitch conditions, Muhamamd Hafeez expressed the hope better pitches would be laid in the upcoming series in the country, adding that the pitches for the first two matches of the series against Bangladesh were below-par although Pakistan had always produced good batting pitches.

There was a lot of work to be done with the younger players to become match-winners, adding that the presence of senior players in the team was an opportunity to learn in the dressing”Shoaib Malik’s innings in the first T20I against Bangladesh is a lesson for the youngsters on how to finish a match,” he responded.

“I have found Haris Rauf a man of strong nerves who loves challenges, adding that Haris Rauf had played only two matches for Pakistan so far but he never looked nervous,” Hafeez said when asked about Haris Rauf. He advised young batsman Ahsan Ali to pay more attention to his batting as he has good future.
