RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s opener Abid Ali, who became the first batsman to score a debut hundred in both Test and one-day international cricket, has dedicated his century in to his daughter.
Talking to media after the match, he said that he played according to his plan, adding that senior player Babar Azam supported him and gave him confidence during the play.
Abid Ali while thanking almighty Allah said that he would try to perform well in the future, so that he could maintain his performance.
“My parents and wife have prayed for me,” he added.
Earlier today, Abid Ali had become the only male player in cricket history to score a hundred on both his ODI and Test debuts when he reached three figures on the final day of the Rawalpindi Test against Sri Lanka.
Former England women s player Enid Bakewell who played 12 Tests between 1968 and 1979 was the first cricketer (male/female) to start both their ODI and Test careers with a century.
The 32-year-old Abid had also scored a hundred on his ODI debut vs Australia in Dubai earlier this year. When Abid hit Vishwa Fernando for 2 runs off the 183rd delivery he had faced, the batsman erupted in joy as his batting partner Babar Azam hugged him on the century feat.
Abid s feat is the first Test century on debut for a Pakistan batsman in 10 years with Umar Akmal being the last to hit a Test debut hundred.
