Senate body proposes to form JIT to interrogate pedophile Sohail Ayaz

The Committee chairperson asked telecom companies do not run awareness campaign against child abuse.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate Standing Committee on Information and Technology on Monday proposed to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to interrogate pedophile Sohail Ayaz.

A senate standing committee on Information Technology that met here with Senator Rubina Khalid in the chair. During the meeting, Director FIA told the committee that suo moto action cannot be taken on issues of social media as the law doesn’t permit them to do so.

Senator Rubina Khalid asked the FIA officials to propose amendments to law change within two weeks.

Senator Faisal Javed said that ‘Zainab Alert Bill  that had been prepared by Ministry of Law and Justice and Ministry of Human Rights had been going back and forth and could not get passed through the senate standing committee on Human Rights.

The Committee chairperson asked why telecom companies do not run awareness campaign against child abuse, adding that the companies should run a public service message for public awareness in this regard.

Briefing the Committee, SSP Investigation told that the 46 years old male namely Sohail Ayaz, was a Chartered Accountant by profession and he had been traveling across 9 countries and working with many international organizations as an accountant. He also had links with ‘Romanian Child Pornography Ring .

The police officials informed the house that he had served 4 years in UK prison after being convicted for child pornography.

“He used to lure in young boys of age 8-15 years, mostly street vendors selling eggs or Qehwa, by offering them money or jobs and used to intoxicate them through Hash and Ice."

SSP Faisal Khan noted that Ayaz s DNA had matched with that of one of the minor survivors and that some 100,000 images of kids were recovered from the child rapist s computer. A drug test report of Ayaz and the minor survivors also came out positive, he added.
