RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Visitors to Rio de Janeiro will be able to take in new angles of the city’s Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer, from the top of Latin America’s largest ferris wheel.
Known as the Rio Star, this ferris wheel rises some 88 metres (288 feet) above the waters of Guanabara Bay and is scheduled to open on December 6.
The Rio Star is located in Porto Maravilha, a still undeveloped part of the city. But city officials hope Rio’s new attraction will spur development in the area and rival the London Eye.
