"We have named Nasir Khosa for the Chief Election Commissioner," said Asif Khawaja.

LAHORE (Duyna News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif confirmed that the deadlock between the opposition and the government over the issue of the Election Commission is still in place.

Speaking exclusively in Dunya News program ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’, Khawaja Asif said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan is not ready to talk to the opposition on the issue.

“Without consultation, the Election Commission’s matter will be suspended”, he expressed, hoping that that the deadlock is likely to end at Wednesday’s meeting.

"We have named Nasir Khosa for the Chief Election Commissioner," he said, and added: “Nasir Khosa was also named by the PTI as the caretaker Chief Minister and we need people like him.”

Responding to an important question, PML-N leader asserted that he has not yet seen the draft of amendment in the Army Act.

He added, however, the government can resolve the matter on the first day, and it will be dealt after reviewing the draft.

He said those who have a mandate are not ready to talk.

The Assembly is going for the most important legislation. “In such cases, other matters, including legislation, cannot proceed”, he maintained.
