Govt to earn Rs10 billion in next few years through bio-technology: Fawad

(APP) – Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that the government would make all out efforts to earn Rs10 billion during next few years with the support of biotechnology.
Addressing a press conference, he said that they have set a target of producing 30 per cent cheap electricity from green sources.
“The future of country stands with the promotion of solar energy and lithium battery […] the solar panels will help generating electricity at low prices,” he said, while terming the production of expensive electricity as the “major reason of inflation in the country.”
Chaudhry shared that the technology ministry will sign an agreement with the Punjab government to establish the mega Bio-Technology Park of South Asia.
He hinted to promote herbal medicines in Pakistan. “We want to manufacture agricultural drones and air ambulances with the help of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and other defence institutions,” he remarked.
With the keen interest of prime minister, the budget of science and technology has been increased to 600 per cent in the current year, he said, adding that during next year the number would reach 1500 per cent.
Talking about the departure of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to United Kingdom for treatment, he said that prime minister and entire leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wishes for his early recovery.
“In my opinion, Nawaz Sharif will not return back […] he has disappointed his workers,” he said.
He said Sharif’s bail was not a good omen for the supremacy of law and institutions in the country.
“Today, the cabinet will decide about the next course of action by the government for filling an application against the Lahore High Court’s decision regarding Sharif’s bail.
He said that time was required to change the entire system of the country, adding that the PTI would do it with public support.
On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Air Lift, a private organisation.
Under the agreement, the Air Lift will provide Public Bus Transportation Service initially in Karachi and Lahore. After these cities, the service will be launched in other cities. These buses will run on batteries.
A few students of science and technology have collected an amount of Rs12 billion and launched an online Air Bus transportation service like Uber and Careem. He urged youths to move towards entrepreneurship rather than finding jobs.
