Let's fight poverty, illiteracy, climate change together: FM Qureshi to Modi.
KARTARPUR (Dunya News) – On the occasion of Kartarpur Corridor inauguration, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to work together to fight poverty, illiteracy, climate change and epidemics in Pakistan and India.
“In this era, Pakistan is working on two regional initiatives. One is economic corridor with CPEC, and the other is for peace and love which Kartarpur Corridor symbolizes today,” FM Qureshi said.
The Foreign Minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan had promised people of India that he would initiate peace and love. Today marks him standing by his promise. Today I ask Narendra Modi to do the same.
“The way that this Gurdwara has been opened for the Sikh community, I request that PM Modi opens Kashmir’s Jamia Masjid so the Muslims of Kashmir can offer their prayers there,” he added.
“If in our time, the Berlin Wall could fall, the map of Europe changed, the Kartarpur corridor opened then the Line of Control dynamics can also be changed. Peace can also be initiated.”
FM Qureshi further stated: “Across the border Indian Prime Minister appreciated PM Imran Khan for this initiative; as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan I want to ask that will you give PM Imran Khan an opportunity to thank you by lifting the curfew in Kashmir?”
The Foreign Minister said Baba Guru Nanak preached the message of love, harmony and respect for humanity and the same message was preached by our Sufi saints. He said this message of peace should also reach to occupied Kashmir where people have been confined to their homes and not allowed to offer their Friday prayers.
