No security issue in the country, Sri Lanka should come and play in Pakistan: Sarfraz

The skipper said that the PCB has made untiring efforts for the return of international cricket

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed on Friday said that there is no security issue in the country and Sri Lanka should come and play in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Friday, he said that the national cricket team s practice session is underway, adding that the new domestic structure has been changed and we need to give this system a chance as it would benefit in the future.

To a question regarding retirement of team players, Sarfraz said that it is their personal decision who have decided to retirement and he cannot say anything about it. Test cricket is not easy, he said.

The skipper said that the PCB has made untiring efforts for the return of international cricket in the country, adding that the ICC and cricket boards of other countries should also support Pakistan.

Regarding his captaincy, Sarfaraz Ahmed said, “I feel humbled and honoured to have been awarded extension to my captaincy term. I have enjoyed captaining the Pakistan cricket team and look forward to improve my leadership qualities under the new set-up of Misbah-ul-Haq who also has a proven record as captain.”

He said that he has played most of his cricket under Misbah and they know each other pretty well, adding that he think they will make a good combination, which will contribute to improved performances of the side across all formats.

“I am aware we have not done justice to our potential in ODIs, which has disappointed us as well as our fans,” he said adding I am hopeful we will be able to turn things around in the coming season and in this relation, I remain committed to stepping up to the challenge with my performances and captaincy.

Sarfraz said: “I have complete faith in my team, which has time and again shown the talent, class and charisma it possesses. The only thing missing has been consistency, which Misbah and I would like to focus and improve across all departments of the game. I assure all our fans we will not leave any stone unturned in our preparations for the forthcoming assignments and will do our best to translate these preparations into solid performances.”
