Court sends Hamza Shahbaz to jail on judicial remand.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – An Accountability Court (AC) in Lahore has on Wednesday sent Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz to jail on judicial remand.
The AC conducted hearing of money laundering case against Hamza Shahbaz and rejected the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea to extend his physical remand.
The NAB investigation officer told the court that the anti-corruption watchdog had obtained additional evidences from the Chief Minister (CM) Office. He maintained that benami companies were made in the name of two employees of the CM Office – Ali Ahmed Khan and Mehr Nisar Ahmed.
The investigation officer said the anti-graft body had received the details of Chiniot property and required data from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and other departments.
The NAB requested the court to extend Hamza Shahbaz’s physical remand to complete the interrogation from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
Hamza Shahbaz’s counsel argued that the persons mentioned by the NAB are not related to the case and requested the court to reject the NAB plea. The AC accepted the request of Hamza Shahbaz’s lawyer.
