Government is especially focusing on drilling for new reserves of oil and gas: Nadeem Babar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to PM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said those companies leaving Pakistan have been assured full support and 25 companies would be contacted in next 3 months.

Talking to Dunya News’ program Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, he said 30.4 Million Cubic Feet gas and 2500 barrels of oil would be added to system. He said additional 50 million cubic feet gas would be available in system from next month.

He said government is especially focusing on drilling for new reserves of oil and gas. He said PTI government would reduce circular debt to zero percent till 2020.

He said privatization of Baloki and Haveli Bahadur Shah power plants would begin in the end of September. He said agreements would not be revived for those IPPs whose tenure is ending.

He said gas storage is necessary along with LNG but we lack this facility. He said local gas field was used for gas storage and it did not damage anything.

He said government has to pay rent of LNG terminal weather it is using it or not and we have decided not to make more agreements on LNG terminal. He said 5 new companies have shown interest in developing LNG terminal. He said new job opportunities would be created and investment would inflow the country.
