UNSC meeting on Kashmir reaffirms previous resolutions: PM Khan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday stated that the recent meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Jammu and Kashmir dispute has reaffirmed the earlier resolutions on the matter.

The premier took to Twitter and stated: “It is the responsibility of the international body to address the plight of Kashmiris.”

“I welcome the Security Council s meeting on Jammu and Kashmir […] it is the first time in five decades that the Kashmir dispute is being discussed at the highest diplomatic forum.”

“There are 11 UNSC resolutions reiterating the Kashmiris right to self determination.”

I welcome the UNSC meeting to discuss the serious situation in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. It is for the first time in over 50 yrs that the world’s highest diplomatic forum has taken up this issue. There are 11 UNSC resolutions reiterating the Kashmiris right to self determination.

And the UNSC meeting was a reaffirmation of these resolutions. Therefore addressing the suffering of the Kashmiri people & ensuring resolution of the dispute is the responsibility of this world body.
