Global T20 Canada: Umar Akmal approached by Indian bookmaker.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that he was approached by an Indian bookmaker and former Pakistan Test cricketer Mansoor Akhtar for match-fixing during the ongoing Global T20 Canada, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.

Following the complaint by Umar Akmal, Mansoor Akhtar was dismissed from his post; however, the final decision regarding the incident is yet to be made. The management directed all players to stay away from match-fixers.

Umar Akmal is representing Winnipeg Hawks in the T20 event, and nine other Pakistanis are also participating in the league. It is worth mentioning here that a player can face ban up to five years upon failing to inform the anti-corruption unit regarding the match or spot-fixing offer.

Mansoor Akhtar played 19 Tests and 41 one-day international (ODI) matches for Pakistan.
