Police Martyrs Day being observed today; Army chief pays tribute

Special functions will be held across the country to appreciate sacrifices of police force.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Police Martyrs Day is being observed today (Sunday) across the country to honour brave fighters and express solidarity with their families.

The police department honours sacrifices of  jawans  who laid down their lives for security of the nation.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department has sacrificed more than 1,400 officers.

The Police Martyrs Day was observed for the fourth consecutive year on the death anniversary of Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, the commandant of Frontier Constabulary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police who was martyred in a suicide attack on his vehicle on August 4, 2010.

Special functions will be held across the country to appreciate sacrifices of police force for establishing peace.

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan Police has made phenomenal contributions alongside other security forces in counter-terrorism operations.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor took to Twitter, and stated that the army chief said Pakistan Police over the years has proved to be a strong professional force.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said he salutes martyrs and their families on the Police Martyrs Day.
