The resolution against chairman was tabled in hate for PM Imran Khan: Firdous
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on information and broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan while criticizing opposition over their defeat in no confidence move against Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani said corrupt politics has been rejected today.
Talking to media outside parliament, she said the resolution against chairman was tabled in hate for PM Imran Khan but opposition revolted to bury the corrupt politics.She said this is a win of law and constitution of Pakistan.
She said the current government is working for betterment of public, adding that PM is working day and night to steer the country out of crisis despite difficult situation. She asserted that the country will progress under the leadership of PM Khan.
Earlier she said that Senate was the symbol of Federation, adding that that nobody would be allowed to hamper the democratic process in the country.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that there will be rule of law and supremacy of Constitution. She expressed the hope that Senators would support the right person for the Chairman Senate.
The no-trust motion against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, tabled by Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, was rejected on Thursday.
A total of 100 senators, including Sanjrani, took part in the polling process. Senator Javed Abbasi was appointed the polling agent on behalf of the opposition, while Senator Nauman Wazir was appointed on behalf of the government.
50 votes were received in favour of the no-confidence motion while the opposition needed at least 53 votes for the resolution to be passed but fell just three votes short of victory.
