Doctors remove 1.5kg of metal ornaments from Indian woman's stomach

Doctors said the woman was mentally unstable and she had been unwell for the past two months and on medication.

WEST BENGAL (Reuters) - Jewellery weighing about 1.5 kilogram was removed from the stomach of a 49-year old woman by doctors in India’s eastern state of West Bengal.

Ornaments including necklaces, nose rings, bracelets, and 90 coins of various denominations of Indian currency were removed from her stomach.

Doctors said the woman was mentally unstable and she had been unwell for the past two months and on medication.

She was later admitted to a government-run hospital in Birbhum district of West Bengal where she was examined for weeks before being operated upon.
